Desktop app
The CMVideo desktop application runs entirely on your machine. It does not require an account, does not upload your media for censoring, and does not include built-in analytics or ads.
This website (cmvideo.online)
The marketing site and embedded CMVideo Mini widget are hosted separately from your desktop install. When you paste a URL into Mini, the mini server downloads that source on your behalf — your clip is not uploaded for local censoring on the web.
Visit counts
We count anonymous page loads (no cookies) to operate the site and show aggregate traffic to the site owner. This is separate from optional consent-gated analytics below.
Optional analytics & ads
We may show a consent banner asking whether you accept optional analytics
and advertising on this website. You can choose Essential only or
Accept analytics & ads. Your choice is stored in your browser
(localStorage).
- Analytics — aggregated page views and Mini usage events (format, success/fail). We do not send full URLs or filenames to analytics.
- Ads — EthicalAds (privacy-focused, dev audience). Loads only if you consent; EthicalAds must be the only third-party ad on the page.
- First-party events — anonymous POSTs to our Mini API for operational stats (also consent-gated).
Third-party providers
When enabled, we may use providers such as Plausible, Google Analytics, or
Google AdSense. Each has its own privacy policy. Configure providers in
site/monetization.config.js — see
docs/MONETIZATION.md.
